This year has been a journey of both profound progress and dedicated advocacy that has moved us closer to justice in our organization and within the United Methodist Church. At General Conference, we witnessed transformative steps toward inclusion and equity—steps made possible through the passion and faith of people like you. Yet, even as we celebrate these milestones, we recognize that our work remains unfinished. As we are reminded by the beloved song by Mark Miller and Carl Daw Jr., God Has Work for Us to Do:

"Till all the jails are empty
And all the bellies filled
Till no one hurts or steals or lies
And no more blood is spilled."

As we move through this season of reflection and renewal, we are acutely aware of the complexities and challenges before us. The recent election of Donald Trump has ushered in a period that calls for renewed vigilance, courage, and commitment to justice. In the face of a landscape marked by heightened division and policies that threaten marginalized communities, our work in advocating for inclusion, equity, and compassion has become even more essential.

Together, we have pushed forward in faith, standing for justice and sowing seeds of change. Yet, as we know, our journey toward a world marked by love, fairness, and compassion is far from complete. In times like these, God calls us not just to hope but to active, persistent work for transformation. The coming year brings both challenge and promise. We will continue to resist policies that marginalize and oppress, working to amplify the voices of those often left out. At MFSA, we remain committed to dismantling systems of oppression and empowering communities to stand together in the face of adversity.

Till pulpit, press, and politics
Are free of greed and hate."

As we step into this new year, we invite you to stand with us.
