Since the recent election, we, like many of you, are grappling with a range of emotions—uncertainty, frustration, anger, fear, and grief. These feelings reflect the deep concern many of us hold for the future of justice, equity, and inclusion in our society. The weight of this moment is heavy, especially for those who feel most vulnerable to the policies and rhetoric that may come. 

Yet even in the midst of these emotions, we are called to reflect, regroup, and refocus on our shared commitment to building a just and compassionate world. We are challenged to transform fear into courage and frustration into action, drawing strength and resilience from our faith and shared purpose. 

 The Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA) was born out of such challenges. In times of oppression, a committed community arose to amplify silenced voices and champion justice and inclusivity. This history reminds us that every challenge can spark renewed determination and action. Similarly, the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights within our church and society has not been without hardship. There were moments when progress seemed impossible. Yet through the unwavering commitment of justice-seeking United Methodists, we have achieved meaningful strides this year, including the removal of harmful language from the Book of Discipline. Each challenge faced has only strengthened our resolve.

 This recent election has ushered in calls for renewed vigilance, courage, and commitment to justice. In the face of a landscape marked by heightened division and policies that threaten marginalized communities, our work in advocating for inclusion, equity, and compassion is even more essential.

 We will continue to resist policies that marginalize and oppress, working to amplify the voices of those often left out. MFSA remains committed to dismantling systems of oppression, building coalitions, and empowering communities to stand together in the face of adversity.

We invite you to stand with us and with each other, embracing the power of solidarity and community. In times of uncertainty and adversity, it is our collective strength that carries us forward. Together, we can create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and supported, breaking down barriers that divide us and building bridges of understanding and compassion. Solidarity is more than standing beside one another—it is actively engaging in the shared work of justice, lifting each other's burdens, and amplifying the voices of those too often unheard. Now is the time to recommit to these principles, weaving a stronger, more inclusive community rooted in hope and love.
