MFSA Honors Rev. Stephen Griffith for His Dedicated Service on the Board of Directors
Rev. Stephen Griffith (he/him/his), is a retired member of the Great Plains Conference. A graduate of Saint Paul School of Theology and Nebraska Wesleyan University, he served churches across Nebraska for 35 years, including extended pastorates in Omaha and Lincoln. A member and leader of the Nebraska Chapter for more than 30 years, he is now convener of the new Great Plains Chapter. Steve is a trained spiritual director and mediator. He has a life-long history of advocacy for many justice issues include LGBTQ equality, PFLAG, Planned Parenthood, ending the death penalty, and fostering interfaith understanding.

Beginning his leadership on the board representing the South Central Jurisdiction and later serving as the Chair of the Governance Committee, Rev. Griffith has brought wisdom, passion, and a steadfast commitment to justice, embodying MFSA's mission of transformative action within The United Methodist Church and beyond.
A retired clergy member of the Great Plains Conference, Rev. Griffith has served the church and community with distinction for over 45 years. His ministry included impactful pastorates in Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska, during which he championed progressive causes and fostered inclusive communities. As a graduate of Saint Paul School of Theology and Nebraska Wesleyan University, his education laid the foundation for a career marked by advocacy, leadership, and bridge-building.
Rev. Griffith's involvement with MFSA spans decades, including over 30 years as a leader in the Nebraska Chapter. Most recently, he has served as the convener of the Great Plains MFSA Chapter. His dedication to LGBTQIA+ equality, interfaith understanding, and causes like PFLAG, Planned Parenthood, and the abolition of the death penalty reflects a life lived in alignment with the principles of love and justice. Beyond his advocacy, Rev. Griffith is also a trained spiritual director and mediator, providing guidance and reconciliation to those seeking healing and connection.
As Rev. Griffith concludes his term on our Board of Directors, MFSA celebrates his lasting contributions and extends deep gratitude for his unwavering commitment to social justice. His legacy of advocacy inspires all who work toward a more inclusive and equitable world.
