Oregon-Idaho Chapter Supports 2 Ballot Measures
The Oregon-Idaho Chapter of MFSA is setting an example of what it means to vote your values this Midterm Election season and call on all to prayerfully consider, as you fill out your ballot, how your choices reflect your values. They have endorsed two Oregon ballot measures this Midterm season. See below for more information on these two measures (excerpts taken from Oregon-Idaho chapter newsletter).
The first is Measure 114, Reduction of Gun Violence Act.The key elements of this measure are: 1) Help reduce gun violence in Oregon by requiring a permit to purchase a gun, hands-on safety training, fingerprints and a positive background check. Currently if a background check is delayed, a person is allowed to purchase a gun without background check. 2) Ban future sales of large capacity magazines. It will prohibit the manufacture, sale, transfer, and possession of magazines over 10 rounds, with limited exemptions.

The second measure is Measure 111 which names health care as a basic human right. Many people in the United States have inadequate health insurance or none at all. It is possible to have health care for all- and our faith calls us to advocate for the right to health care for all people. Voting yes on ballot measure 111 shows your support for the right to health care for all.
MFSA is a grassroots organization and we make change through our regional communities and chapters. We are grateful for the justice-seeking work of the Oregon-Idaho chapter.
