New England United Methodist Town Hall

Wednesday, June 5, 2019
7:00 – 8:30 PM Save the Date

The New England Annual Conference has taken a strong and unequivocal stand in support of LGBTQIA+ rights. There are many questions about how we will live into this commitment in the future, particularly in light of the decisions made at GC 2019 in St. Louis.

One thing is sure- we need accurate information to make well informed decisions. In an effort to address this need, an ad hoc group of people has come together to sponsor a “NEW ENGLAND UNITED METHODIST TOWN HALL.”

There will be a 90 minute Web-based Zoom Video Meeting on the evening of Wednesday, June 5th from 7 PM – 8:30 PM. Please save this date, and share this announcement widely.

Zoom is an easy to use, one or two click, video conferencing tool. There will be a phone-in option as well, however we encourage the use of Zoom since we will be sharing information on screen and presenters will be visible.

Please reach out to those who may not have internet access and invite them to join you, or make plans to gather at a web-access location, such as a church office.

We will have updates on the following initiatives that are currently planning for the future of Methodism:
● The UM-Forward Initiative (and the May 17-18 gathering in Minneapolis, MN)
● The UMC-Next Initiative (and the May 20-22 gathering in Kansas City)
● The Western Jurisdiction’s initiative “A Home for All God’s People” ● Legislation that will be presented at the June 2019 New England Annual Conference
● The Wesleyan Covenant Association and ongoing post-GC 2019 activities

The Town Hall will be recorded and available online following the meeting.
