The Employee Free Choice Act

The Employee Free Choice Act is now in the House & Senate (HR 1409 and S. 560).  This Act will give workers a fair and direct path to form unions through majority sign-up, help employees secure a contract with their employer in a reasonable period of time, and toughen penalties against employers who violate their workers’ rights.  With a free choice to join unions, working people can bargain for better pay, health care and pensions and build a better life themselves and their families, which is especially essential in the current economic climate.  Passage of the Employee Free Choice Act will allow more workers to form or join unions, which will strengthen working people’s ability to shift the entire political landscape in our country, addressing issues of workers’ rights, human needs, and economic and ecological sustainability.
