MFSA Coalition Coordinator Position
The Methodist Federation for Social Action (MFSA), a 103 year-old justice organization, located in Washington, DC, has an opening for a full-time coalition organizer to work on social justice issues including justice for persons who are gay, lesbian, bi-sexual and transgender. The position is with MFSA working in close coalition with the Reconciling Ministries Network, Affirmation and other caucuses and groups affiliated with the United Methodist Church. This is a one-year position funded by the Arcus Foundation and is expected to be renewed for a second year. The position will focus initially on preparing for Annual Conferences 2011 and will involve travel. The second focus will be on organizing for General Conference 2012. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience with the UMC structure including General Conference, excellent organization skills, good writing and speaking abilities and multi-cultural competence. Enthusiasm, flexibility, high motivation and curiosity are all pluses. Applications will be accepted until November 15, 2010 and the candidate is expected to start work by January 1, 2011.
